Praia Grande

Today we had an easy 305 km to Praia Grande, but there was some light rain for the first 150 km. We were headed for the home of friends we had met in Tal Tal Chile in December of 2013.

They are such amazing hosts. From the moment we arrived they pampered us.

Claudinei was making pasta for lasagna for us when we arrived. Then a little blue label to celebrate. With all the fired food in this country we were thrilled to get a salad with lunch!

They are very into Christmas decorations here. We drove to the nearby town of Santos to this massive mall, which was packed with people, but where there was this incredible thin crust Italian pizza place.

Their place is a block from the 40 km long Praia Grande or “long beach” and they had the whole set up for us.

Claudinei and Fatima’s home at the beach is ours for the rest of the week as they must return to Sao Paulo to work. They left us the apartment, a fridge and freezer full of food and beer, and their pedal bikes too. Today we went for a ride and saw the firemen practicing helicopter recues. Lucky for us there is an oasis or Kiosko every 500 meters for some shade and a cold drink.

Yes we have been VERY lucky. It is summer here so it rains often but after 3 pm usually. Wow is it getting hot though. It was 40 in Rio yesterday. Happy New Year to you also!!

    Hola Dan y Sara,

You seem to be having an extraordinary trip! Your pictures are amazing!

You must feel blessed – such good people and such amazing scenery?

It is nice to see it from up here in the Northland (fairly mild and no snow in the Ottawa area so far)

    Stay safe!

Love, Hope, Joy and Peace in the New Year…

    Cheer…
