A little sightseeing while we wait.
October 6, 2024

We had a couple of days to explore while waiting for the bike to arrive. The first day the weather was stellar sunny but not too hot. We got a bolt into the city and started our day at the Arc de Triomphe and then we strolled down the Champs Elysee.

After a nice coffee on a cafe patio we headed over to the iconic Eiffel Tower. It is all now fenced off around the base and you pay to get in even just for photos from the base. We were last here in 2006.
We spent our time crisscrossing the Seine on the bridges to take in the sights on both the banks. On one is the Pont Alexander III where on one side is the museum with Napoleon’s tomb and the other the Plaza de la Concorde.

You can then walk thru the royal gardens, which end at the previous royal palace that is now the Louvre Museum.

The last stop on our walking tour was to visit Notre Dame Cathedral which is unfortunately not open yet after the massive fire.
We had a nice view of the Arc de Triomphe at sunset on the ride home.

We woke up to rain, but it tapered off to drizzle by 1 so we decided to go for it and by the time we got to the medieval city of Senlis 30 minutes north of the CDG cargo city it had stopped. We started at the 12 century Cathedral that is inside the 3 rd century Roman walls. Head to the nearby tourist office and get an English walking tour guide map and ask for a lunch recommendation.
We headed to Le Commerce for some Entrecote and Bordeaux!

We mostly followed 2 of the 3 routes down cobbled lanes and past numerous beautiful buildings and churches.
