We have another blue bird day on our hands for a 416 km trip south east to Sevilla España. We had a few more castles to visit today, but if you stopped at all the hill top towns with castles the trip would take days.
We did visit the castle towns of Elvas and Monsaraz. Riding up to Elvas you can see the massive aqueduct. We rode up thru the castle town to the gate of the keep.
Monsaraz Castle is perched on the cliff at the end of the town. Here again we rode up to the keep.
We also lost an hour crossing to Spain and so we had planned to book it the last 100 km on the highway.
Our apartment is on a pedestrian street, but you can drive up to at least unload the luggage and the underground parking is just 100 m away. With the time change we didn’t arrive until 5 and so we didn’t do much other than wander a bit and stop for drinks and tapas.

We booked another bicycle tour here in Sevilla, which is a great way to see a lot of the main sights and orient a first time visitor to the historic center. One important detail we learned was how long there has been human inhabitants here and how pivotal Sevilla was in history. At one time this city had exclusive trading rights between Europe and the Americas. We actually stood at the spot where the ship left from and returned to thar was the circumnavigate the globe.
We had a night out in the city and met up with our friend Jose who we first met in Morocco in 2015. He was also the one who by some miracle got us into the center of the Farias and actually up to the gate for a photo and into the celebration.
Before we left this morning we visited the archives where they have stored all the documents detailing all the trade and exploration that took place in and from Seville.

Hi there. Thank you for the pictures. What a wonderful education you are getting. I wish that we would build things like that to stand the trials of time instead of tearing down every few years and building again’
Uncle Gordon and I are moving to an all inclusive where there is continued care until the end. I said it is like packing our bags and going to a first class terminal and waiting for our plane to come in.
I have had 2 breaks this year–hip and wrist and Gordons memory is getting shorter but I couldn’t ask for a better partner. We say he has the body and I have the brains–enough said.
Chris, Danielle and the gals are coming home for Christmas so we are going to make it a special memory for us and them. They are loving it down in the Grand Cayman Island but as far as we are concerned it is too far away. When they left I told them they could go but they had to leave the li9ttle gals behind. They didn’t think that was such a great idea.
Another bit of news is that Brenda is getting a new ankle. When feel 25 years ago and broke her back and shatter her leg and ankle. She has done amazing over the years but a year ago they had to put a brace on that leg but now it is just bone on bone so we are so grateful for modern technology and the care that she and I have had over the years.
We love the pictures and whish you both a safe and wonderful Merry Christmas
