Essouria
We took out breakfast at a local café with a nice view of the water. Then we started on our 342 KM day north to Essouria.
From here our day was north and along the ocean for the most part. When we left the sea and went up in the hills it suddenly looked like we were back in Spain.… Read the rest

Western Sahara, Tan Tan, Sidi Ifni
This is a far south as Sara is going. The guys have decided to go south in the desert in to the disputed territory of the Western Sahara. The conditions of the roads, the 30 km “dry” lake crossing, and the last of gas will make this a challenge she does not want.… Read the rest

Tafraoute & Icth
Leaving Taroudant we decided to go 179 Km to Tafraoute, a town which was recommended by a couple we had met on the road yesterday.

Taroudant
The plan today had been to go 160 km north east to visit the d’Ozoud waterfalls and drive back. The forecast was for rain so instead we decided to just hang out and rest in the city. This gave the guys some time to work on the bikes also.… Read the rest

On our rest day we did a short ride in the afternoon for 20 km up the R 704 and into the Dades Gorge. We just rode up to the mirador or viewpoint and the lower gorge, since we will be riding back down the upper part of this road the next day.… Read the rest

N’Kob & Dades
Today we headed to N’kob in 225 km, but opted to start via the pist and to ride along the dunes.
Our friends had suggested a stop at Yasmina Lake. This is a lake formed by rainfall and is seasonal. The road is a bit sandy in spots.… Read the rest

Merzouga and the Red Dunes of the Sahara
We took the scenic route to Merzouga thru Goulmima instead of the main road and this was only an extra 70 km for a total of 204 km. This is about as close to Algeria as we will get.
The power to the entire town is off 1 day per month and this was the day.… Read the rest

Today we are headed south towards the desert and we decided to make 2 short days into one long one and go to Midelt and then to Errachidia (or Ar-rachida) in 337 KM.
Leaving thru the gates of Fes we had already decided to put the bad behind us because today was going to be a great day.… Read the rest
