Mario, Fernanda, and Fernandita flew into NYC from San Salvador on their way to Mario’s son Juan’s graduation from Berklee School of Music in Boston. We had to go along for the road trip!. The gang of course had to stop at the premium outlets on the way there to add to our pretty limited post riding wardrobe. The best find was the comfy Calvin Klein seamless undies for riding.
We all checked into the Courtyard Marriott just outside the city. Then we headed into town to check out Juans student living. This city is very picturesque.
We spend the afternoon at the Quincy Market and had some amazing Chowder at McCormick and Schmick’s.
Then we walked along the Freedom Trail and down Commonwealth Avenue from the Boston Common to the grad concert. It took us 2 hours, but we had a rest in the Public gardens.
There was a star studded line up at the Convocation concert with performances by the graduating students as well as Annie Lennox and Willy Nelson. At the Convocation we saw Juan graduate and Annie, Willy, and Carole King receive honorary doctorates.
Then we headed out on the town.
Sunday we drove to the coast at Newport. Eating ice cream before lunch is always fun. The soft shell crabs at the Black Pearl were delicious. Crazy, but we ran into Kelly on the street corner. She is from England and we had met her in Costa Rica at Playa Copal. She is working on a private yacht that is on it’s way to Greenland. We toured the old graveyards in town and then drove along the famous street of mansions to the coast walk.
On our way back to NCY we stopped to tour Mystic CT.
We topped off our evening with wings and the hockey game at Hooters.
